Clopay Plastic Products Company, Mason, OH, has recently named Dan Toombs printing plant manager of its North American printing operation. Mr. Toombs brings 20 years of expertise in the printing industry into his new role and will continue to optimize operational excellence via Clopay’s high-speed, wide web press capability. “Clopay has stayed on the forefront of printing technology with the recent installation of state-of-the-art, custom-designed presses,” commented Mike Carlson, vice president, global operations. “Dan Toombs will be instrumental in growing our printing business in North America.” Mr. Toombs replaces Vance Greene, who has accepted the position of director of operations, Clopay Europe, responsible for Clopay’s manufacturing operations across Europe. Michelman, Cincinnati, OH, has recently initiated several personnel changes. In the first, David Towell has assumed the position of global marketing manager—paint and coatings. Mr. Towell’s new position will involve developing business and working with customers globally in the paint and coatings industry as they address issues such as reformulating coatings to reduce volatile organic compounds content. In other recent changes at Michelman, Alain Bouvy will assume the newly created position of marketing manager EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and Vladimir Nunez will step into Dr. Bouvy’s former job as sales manager for South Europe. Dr. Bouvy has a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium and has focused on developing the wax emulsion business for Michelman since 2002. Mr. Nunez has extensive experience in both sales and research and development at companies such as Solutia, Monsanto and most recently, Kemira. Dr. Bouvy’s technical knowledge of industrial detergents and experience with surfactants for paints, coatings and polymerization uniquely qualify him for guiding Michelman product lines into outlets that effectively meet the European market. Mr. Nunez’s strong reputation and seasoned experience is expected to aid in furthering Michelman opportunities and partnerships. “We’re taking a more proactive approach in determining the needs of the market across Europe and Africa through better interaction with our customers,” said Michelman VP global sales and technology Marty Riehemann.
